3g sells a Dongle which connects you to the internet and boasts about its speed and availability. A fixed price Contract is presented to Customers for a period of 24 months--18 months -- or 12 months and it is by no means a reality. Sign Up and find out that the connections drops off so frequently that  you seek help from their Centres... in INDIA. Their promises that it is only a few weeks before another Mast is connected and every users troubles are over.They put it so sweetly that you feel it must be true. Not so. The Technology is not there .You may be forgiven for being strung along.You cannot do anything but carry on paying each week. They put the monthly Fee up by 3.6% and you still are asked to PAY UP regardless.You cannot get a written reply to your letters of protest ,you cannot terminate the Contract even if you have good reasons and even if you return their Dongle by registered Post.Add a Self addressed Envelope and you are still ignored.They want payment upto the expiry date of the Contract which seems like a court sentence. Should I ask for HELP from Ofcom?FIXED MEANS FIXED they say, but for who?

Mitchell launches writ against the sun

Andrew Mitchell has launched a writ against the sun for saying he used the word 'Pleb' against police officers.What I want to know is what on earth does Pleb mean and is it an actual English word. I have never in my life heard of such a word. Am I stupid or have I been asleep all my life that during my English lessons at school, I never heard of such a word.Good luck to the sun. Hope they sue the pants of this irritable moron.

lots of shops closing down in west ealing

I have noticed lots of shops closing down recently. Blockbusters.Dreams bed storethe post office in west Ealing was closed for 2 weeks (something to do with the lease and a notice was put up by the sheriff saying no entry allowed), but I saw a note today saying it is opening tomorrow and business as usual (but tomorrow is Good Friday). So don't know if it will still run as a post office.A few shops inside the Ealing Broadway centre. I saw a closing down sale sign in one of the clothes shops.There used to be a jewellery shop in the centre but that's gone.I dread to think what Uxbridge Road will look like in 10 year's time. A row of pound shops and lots of empty boarded up shops. All doom and gloom.

Old wives' tales and urban legends.

There are some peculiar urban myths and old husbands' tales.  Like these:- Many red berries on the holly tree signals a cold winter. Toes pointed up signify low blood sugar. High heart rates lead to female fetuses. Making silly faces when the wind direction changes will make the    silly face permanent. Chocolate leads to acne. Eating crusts (of a sandwich) makes your hair go curly/ you grow hair on your chest.Are these true and are there any more you can think up?

TNT deliver complaints -- yet again

TNT has now responded to a formal complaint from our residents' association about the way mail is not being pushed through letter slots, etc etc etc.There have been several assurances from the TNT bosses about training and supervision and even a suggestion the fault lies with the Post Office, not the TNT delivery persons. This morning -- for the umpteenth time -- TNT mail was left sticking out of our letter slot. I caught up with the delivery man and confronted him with our complaints. First of all he said that our letter slots were "too small", and when I demonstrated that this just wasn't true, he switched tack and said his hands were being hurt trying to push mail right through.What do you say to that!?

Council staff to tighten belts further

At Westminster today the suggestion was mooted that all council officer salaries should be capped at £50,000. This might be extended to board members of contractors like Enterprise and Serco. That's twice the average annual salary. I thought coming back on the train that this was a jolly good idea. Just the sort of idea that might protect the lowest paid and council services at the same time. Just the sort of idea that would appeal to a Labour council. Anyone in favour and anyone against?

Mosque on Singapore road

I have just seen the, computer generated, picture of the new mosque to be built on Singapore rd west ealing (same location as current islamic center) behind BHS. Cant tell from pic if thats a carpark at the back, and cant find any info about one. It says capacity will go up from 1000 to 3000, I really hope there is a carpark. are the council going to replace the old multistory that was down the road from it?

I want to believe we have an Einstein in this Teen-ager but somehow i believe there is more in this success Story.A company parting with hundreds of millions as easily as reported, is just too much to comprehend in the present climate of events. Favourite soaps on TV

What are your favourite soaps and why? Do you think it reflects real life and do some people in the soap remind you of people you know in real life.My favourite soaps are neighbours. Been watching it from day one and I love Paul Robinson.Second is coronation street. I work with someone who is just like Kirsty and believe me, she is scary. I can't stand Karl. I hope they lock him up.

Reported on sky news David Cameron has said in his 'getting tough on immigration speach' that immigrants from EU countries will be stripped of their job seekers allowance after six months... well thats not getting tough. Thats allways been the case. My friend lost her job seekers allowance after six months, and she'd previously been working for 28 years. I dont think that news is going to deter anyone from Romainia etc seeking to come here next year. Honestly there are no jobs for them, there are no houses for them, they have no money. where are they going to go? Will they be sleeping rough on the streets?

Why is it when completing a form online to register purchase of a kettle do they ask so many personal questions?Agedate of birthmarital statuspartner's date of birthwhere did you but the producttelephone numberaddresswhat is your annual total incomeemployment statushobbiesinterests (you and partner)do you acess the internethow often do you buy goods on the internetwhat newspaper do you readwhat type of home do you live inDo you  own your own home or renthow many children do you haveHow many adults live therewhat type of cards do you haveThe list goes on....and all I wanted to do was register a kettle! Needless to say this information is so they can bombard people with adverts for their products or services and no doubt they would sell this information on to others.Needless to say I did NOT give them all this information.It is high time we told these companies to simply MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS!What do others think about this intrusion on privacy?

Local Alan Tichmarsh Garden Make-Over Finalist Needs Your Help!

Local resident Mary Lynch from Hanwell was informed by text message today that her nomination for a garden make-over was unsuccessful.  Mary was nominated back in November for the next ‘Love your Garden’ series starting later this year and was in the final 40 out of 800 nominations countrywide.  The programme Producer visited in early January and everyone was hopeful for a positive outcome.Mary is a highly respected local Childminder who has recently been rated as Outstanding in all area’s by Ofsted however has been asked to improve her outside space.  The garden is currently partioned as the first part of the garden is used for children's play area and the rest of the garden beyond the fence is currently out of bounds to the children as it is not well maintained. Mary's dream garden would be a safe haven for children to run freely around in, easy to maintain shrubs and to regain the full use the entire garden to it's best potential.  The garden is approx. 4.5 metres wide and 32 metres long. Come on you budding gardeners/local garden company .. get your greenfingers ready and get in touch! … Alan Tichmarsh might not ‘love her garden’ but lets help this local resident with a mini-garden makeover!

Closure of Ealing Hospital

I was very saddened to read that Ealing Hospital is to be closed and a new smaller hospital costing £19million to be built.I just don't understand the logic and the brains behind this daft scheme.As we all know, the hospital serves an increasing population which will only continue to increase especially in Southall. There are lots of people who are not on the census or registrar because they are illegal ( I estimate 100,000 people) who will also need healthcare. We have been told that hospitals need to save money but if we look at how much salaries and bonuses the management of Ealing hospital are getting and how much money is wasted on other matters in the hospital.I hope we all fight tooth and nail and stop them from closing the hospital. I read that Angie Bray had a meeting with David Cameron last month about Ealing Hospital but that didnt make any difference. So What can we all do because if Ealing Hospital closes, then lots of lives will be lost unnecessarily due to delays in getting to an alternative hospital such as Paddington or Northwick which would take over an hour to get to or even longer considering the traffic and rush hour and road accidents.
