No More Free Parking on Warwick Road, Ealing Common

Was always a bit of an oddity with the road being generally chocker block with all day parkers using the commute from Ealing Common tube station. But not sure that the new all day £2.20 charge will deter many of those and surely too much for locals, who just want to pop to the Common for an hour or so?  Who would stay there all day after all?Seems like a missed opportunity to me to try and reserve these spaces for people who use the Common and deter the commuters.  As it is pay by phone only surely not hard to have, say, £1 for a couple of hours ramping up to £10 for 8 hours.Or am I missing something?

Consultation for Piccadilly line to stop a TURNHAM GREEN

Southfield Conservative Action team, Patrick Barr, Nusrat Ghani and Janet Young are campaigning for the Piccadilly line to stop at Turnham Green all day. The consultation held by TFL,  was initiated by Angie Bray MP and Mary Macleod MP! Have your say and go online to tfl.gov.uk/piccadillyline. The consultation is now live until 7th October! We are very lucky to have a Conservative run campaign! It's only the Conservatives that could make this happen!

Traffic lights out at Perivale/A40

Or they were at 3:15 this afternoon. Quite bracing getting across from A40 eastbound to head in the direction of West Ealing. You might want to avoid in the rush hour.

Why are Ealing and Hounslow Councils sponsoring the London Mela but NOT the local Brentford Festival

I would very much like to know how much money Ealing Council is putting into "producing" the London Mela in Gunnersbury Park this Sunday and how much Hounslow Council is putting into this event as one of the sponsors, while a much more local and relavant event to both Ealing and Hounslow the Brentford Festival on the same day has no sponsorship from either Ealing Council or Hounslow Council? For that matter why is Ealing Council "producing" the London Mela when it has closed so many day and support centres for the disabled and ill? Surely the money could be better spent to provide facilities for the ill and disabled in Ealing Borough?

Missing Ginger Cat - Argyle Road W13

I have an 8 year old ginger and white cat who has not been seen since Monday.  He is very frendly and is very happy to make himself at home in other peoples houses especially if he is fed.  If anyone has seen a ginger and white cat in the area can you please get in touch.

Cafe Gold now becomes The Clock Tower Cafe!

I know some discussion has taken place on the Forum before so I may be repeating what has already been posted but I popped in to the newly opened (Tuesday) Clock Tower Cafe today and had a lovely cappuccino. It's nicely done out and was quite busy. Some interesting food items for sale too. The brunch menu looked good and reasonably priced so I'll be popping there next weekend to sample the eggs benedict!  Hopefully another welcome addition to Hanwell.

Bananas that are ripening rather fast in this weather...

I don't like eating bananas just as they are once they've started to go brown.I've several solutions (other than buying fewer and eating them before they go brown) the easiest of which is whizzing them up with cold milk (UHT will do - you can't tell the difference)to make a delicious drink... but what are yours?

Blondin Park, Northfields..being discovered!

Today saw thousands of visitors to Blondin Park to attend the Brentford Festival..and thank you Ealing for giving the Organisers your permission and support. At the commencement of proceedings, as the first visitors began to arrive, I stood at the Windmill Road entrance with a colleague handing out leaflets to do with the show. We asked those arriving whether they had been to the Park before and over 50% hadn't.We explained how large the Park was..and directed them to a pathway which led them to the hidden stalls...50 near the railway sidings and another 50 near the allotments and Nature Reserve. That was a good friendly welcome!Like for myself, Blondin Park is a new experience. The Charles Blondin connection is an added ingredient. The local History Society stalls attracted large numbers..viewing the pictures and documents on display.  They included Niagara House..where Blondin once lived. There's much about him on the Internet.Next message... a map showing Niagara House.

Scrap HS2

It's not every day that the Labour Party, the British Chambers of Commerce and the Institute of Directors find themselves in agreement.Estimates of the cost for HS2 now vary between £50 billion and £80 billion. Given that the Government plan will be funding by PFI the final real cost to us all will vary between £300 billion and £480 billion. And all this expenditure just to extend London up to Birmingham so that Midlands stock brokers can travel to London just 35 minutes quicker. With more people sleeping rough in Walpole Park and with plans well advanced to knock down Ealing Hospital surely financial sanity must eventually emerge.
